About MSRH
Miniature Schnauzer Rescue of Houston, Inc., is an all-volunteer, donation-sponsored, non-profit organization dedicated to the overwhelming task of saving the lives of abused, abandoned and unwanted Miniature Schnauzers, who have lost their homes, for one reason or another. Many of these dogs come to us healthy, many sick or injured. They come from shelters, off the streets, from owners who for whatever reason, could no longer care for their little ones, and puppymills, where they have never known love or felt the security of a home.
Our adoption fees generally run between $250 to $350 depending on vetting, but there are certainly exceptions. This fee goes toward the vet bill for the animal to be completely vetted, which includes spay/neuter, yearly shots, heartworm test, and if heartworm positive, be treated to kill the worms. If their teeth need cleaning, we have that done also. We get them healthy and ready for their new forever home.
We have no shelter. Our rescued dogs live in foster homes around the Houston-metro area until they are placed in permanent homes. An adoption application is required of all persons interested in adopting a dog from MSRH. Also, if you are interested in a particular dog listed on our site, please include that information in your application.
Our goal is that any Miniature Schnauzer coming through our organization will never again have to face being on the streets, in a shelter, or any other dangerous situation, but will live a safe, loving and secure life in their new “forever” home.

Foster/Volunteer: Foster homes and volunteers are always in need. If you are interested in joining our rescue efforts please email Sherry Eitel, our Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteer@msrh.org.
Donate: The adoption fees collected when a dog is adopted, typically covers basic medical expenses. But since some of the dogs we get into rescue have more serious problems such as heartworms, infections, skin problems, and so on, the fees do not come close to covering these little ones veterinarian needs. Recently we have incurred a lot of debt to the vet due to a growing number of unfortunate babies and desperately need donations. If you can help in any way — it would be appreciated. To donate for a specific animal’s treatment, please specify. The only way we can continue to help these more than needy little ones, is by donations. Still don’t know what to give for birthdays or holidays? How about a special gift of life and a second chance for the little ones by donating in their names. To make a donation as a gift for someone else, simply give us their email address and a brief note in the “Message to Seller” box in Paypal during checkout or send it along with your check. We will make sure they get a extra special Thank You note from us.

SCHNAUZER STORIES
Shadow Marie will be 11 years old tomorrow…Instead of a picture of her birthday this year, I thought you might like to see a picture of her first birthday…On the left is her scottie brother, Angus McTavish, and on the other side next to her is her daddy, Pepper Joshua, and next to Pepper is Jock….All 3 of the other furkids have since gone to the Bridge, but I thought you might like to see the kind of parties my furkids have….We first had Jock and we wanted to name Pepper, Joshua, calling him Josh..but it was confusing to have both Jock and Josh so we moved Josh to Pepper’s middle name…Shadow Marie’s AKC name is PJ’s Shadow….after her father, Pepper Joshua..Shadow Marie was diagnosed with a heart condition at age one and we thought we’d lose her, since there is no medication or surgery that can help her…Thru years of watching her diet closely, she hasn’t been sick a day since…except for a mild bladder infection twice…Her only limitation is that when it’s really hot and humid, she cannot walk very far…We bought an air conditioner just for her. Angus only has one eye showing in the picture…He had a malignant tumor in his right eye and had to have it removed. He got along just fine for many more years.
