I LOVE my new mama.  I sleep on the pillow next to her and Kira sleeps against Mom's leg - since I now sleep where Kira used to.  On my first day I got to go for a long ride in the truck, and got a new dog tag, and walked 3.5 miles.  Mom's arm got tired  cause I need a little leash work, but Dad was fine walking Kira.  We did really well together.  We play alot too.  Mom and Dad put us outside to play but we don't play outside.  We wait until we get back in the house and then make lots of noise and run around the house.  Day two Mom bought a bunch of soft toys for Kira and me.  Kira likes to tear the stuffing out but I just like to chew.  I ate all the food Mom puts down for me (ProPlan turkey and barley, with "Missing Link" supplement to make my coat gorgeous and shiny like Kira's) although Mom thinks I may have been locked in a laundry room in a previous life - that's where the food is kept here and Mom has to coax me in there and stay with me until I finish my food or I run out.  Still, she seems proud that I've cleared my bowl every day. My tummy is much better.  Mom kept checking me constantly cause she didn't like the way it looks and weeped - but she is much happier today and is even talking about taking me to the groomers soon to get a trim and detangled.  My ears have hair all in them too, that Mom says needs to come out. I like my new Dad but he's so quiet.  I prefer snuggling up to Mama, although I did crawl up on the pillow near Papa a couple of times this morning.  I don't understand him well yet, but he seems okay, and he gives me treats. I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know how sad I was when you left, Mama Kristy.  I wanted to go too!  But Mama Tomi gave me lots of loving and was very patient with me when I was feeling timid.  That lasted about one day!  I've been protecting Mam and Dad when there are noises outside.  Yup, I like my new home.

Bridgette is doing great.  We did need to change her name, though, as I have a very close friend named Bridget who also has a daughter named Bridget so we are now calling our new little Schnauzer "Marley".  She is, by the way, sitting on my lap as I type this.  She slept in my bed last night and is eating well and taking her pills without a problem and doing well with the other dogs.  She is as sweet as you said and is really filling that hole in our life. She owes her life to you guys.  Thanks for everything that you do.
Toby and Sebastian are getting ready to celebrate their 11th birthday in February and the third anniversary of their adoption in April 2002, when they were 8 years young! Both are in great health for their ages. Toby has a disk problem, so he now uses his pet ramp to get into Mom's bed at night, and he is so cute running up it. We have to prevent any jumps, but he takes his regular daily walks and is not in any major pain. Toby loves to sniff every blade of grass and leaf. Ah, how he savors every smell! Sebastian is just fine and must know about Toby's back problem because he massages his brother's back every night. He takes good care of Toby and takes his role of the responsible brother very seriously. If his brothers are too rambunctious, he mediates the problem. Yes, Toby and Sebastian have a little brother named Oreo who is 2 and adores them. They want you to check out his Happy Ending, too. These three rescues are an absolute joy, and Toby and Sebastian want you to know that adopting two 8-year-olds has been a very rewarding experience for their Mom! They are very thankful that they have a very loving forever home.

Update 1/30/05
Oreo no longer takes Prozac and continues to do very well. The words "good boy" are music to his ears! He has come a long way in 18 months. The first 6 were tough, but for those of you who want to give up on a bad little biter, please think of Oreo's story. He will have many years of happiness and good health, thanks to Dr. Lorie Haug at Texas A&M, Dr. Steven Taylor, Dr. Larry White, his trainer Cheryl Trotter, his pet sitter Tina, his daily cheerleaders Elizabeth and Julie, his behavior role models and brothers Sebastian and Toby, his Mom, who never gave up on him, and MSRH, for agreeing to spring him from the TLAC "jail" in Austin, Texas, in July 2003. The truth is that under that vicious exterior was a sweet little funny and personable guy, who today is really a big Mama's boy! At first, he could not even wag his tail, but now, it goes all the time. Happy Tails to ALL!

Oreo was our little biter that I have nearly reconditioned 100%. He will be 2 in January. He was a monster at first, but he is turning into a real lap dog and sweetheart -- lots of time, energy, and money on this one. He still takes a small dose of Prozac each day. He was a fear/pain aggressive puppy when he came here at 6-7 months old. He had been severely abused, poor little guy! He is a true Success Story and adorable, as you can see. He knows it, too!

Esem'e is very excited this Christmas. Her two aunts and grandmom have bought her and Scrat chew toys, tennis balls, neckercheifs, sweaters, and rawhides.  Eseme's Aunt Lori (her favorite aunt) is coming to visit for Christmas and bringing lots of present which always makes Esem'e happy. She has also acquired a taste for very fine cookies. Esem'e is truly content and wears a smile everyday. She is such a blessing in our life and just make life wonderful. Thank you to everyone at MSRH who made her adoption possible. We wish everyone a safe, warm and Blessed Christmas.

Dustin (Dusty) was adopted in June of 2002.  Since then, he has formed a special relationship with his new brother, Cletus and his many cousins, Buddy, Bob, Kaiser, and Eddie.  It is amazing to see what a long way he has come.  He went from not being able to be near another dog without growling to enjoying long visits at the local Dog Park.  We love Dusty and couldn't imagine what ours lives would be like without him.

Fonzi -- aka "Nick" for St. Nicholas -- is doing just fine.  He's beginning to loosen up, can now jump off our bed at will, and is adjusting  to his new surroundings.  I'm not sure whether he's ever been in a real "neighborhood" before.  He really doesn't know that there's a lot a dog can do in a yard, like sniff around and check things out.  This morning I  took him out on a leash and his first activity was to poop.  We went for a short jaunt down the street, something I don't think he's ever done before.  We met some new friends who loved him, but he was a little shy.
All in all, I think he's adjusting really well, and will one day not be skittish about birds chirping, squirrels scurrying around, and the sound of cars and busses along 43rd (one street over from LaMonte).  I was touched this morning when he stood outside Ben's closed door and looked at  me as if he was saying "let me in!"

You know, he really does like those fat free animal crackers!

Logan (aka Comet)
After the passing of our beloved Beau, our poor Trinity was completely depressed (as were we). So our solution was to get her a new playmate. We made sure she was involved in the decision-making process so we brought her with us to meet some potential siblings. She first neglected two females but when Logan was brought out, it was love. We brought it home and they immediately started chasing each other in the backyard. They have been inseparable since. He is such a sweetheart and has turned into a big lap dog. He has been a perfect addition to our aching household.

Charlie was adopted in May 2004. Charlie surely took us for a ride! As first-time Schnauzer parent, I was kind a lost of a while. Thanks to all the wonderful folks at MSRH who always have the right answers to all our questions and guided us through the learning process. Charlie definitely found his home sweet home and getting spoiled. Thanks to my 2 kids -- Charlie's brother and sister who always wanted to play or cuddle up with him or sleep next to him. Charlie and mom watch the kids every morning until they get on their school bus. He no longer cry when someone leaves the house. Around 3:30 PM, he stands by the door anticipating their arrival. He loves his doggie door that gives him access to his huge backyard anytime to explore, chase the birds, and bark at the people going to the park. The Petsmart dog trainer said Charlie is her special student since he's a real character. He had improved his demeanor after his training and loves to go for his grooming now. He loves all the attention during the holidays when everyone came over. We just need to work more on his barking when there are lots of people around. You talk about a "babe magnet" or "attention hogger" -- just bring Charlie on a stroll at the neighborhood park and you will surely strike a conversation with someone. And most of all, Charlie is a great watch dog and a loveable friend. Thanks MSRH for bringing Charlie in our lives. We love him dearly.

Update 05/14/05
Just wanted to update you guys on Sterling... he's doing great! We've attached a few pictures for you.

Last month was the MS150 bicycle ride from Houston to Austin and Sterling was the unofficial mascot for our Methodist Hospital team. He camped overnight with us in the team tent in LaGrange and everyone just loved him! They all said he was so cute and well-behaved.

We also took him for his first boat ride on Lake Somerville in Brenham recently. He seemed to enjoy being on the water, just watching the other boats go by and the people on the shore. We had a lot of fun and he was worn out after a long day.

He continues to be just as wonderful as ever!

Sterling is doing really well! He made it through the surgery on his paw with flying colors and finally had his stitches taken out last week...what a relief! We also took him to get a haircut and he looks quite handsome. We bring him along with us whenever possible and he loves meeting new people. When he can't be with us we are constantly talking about him and showing off pictures of him to our friends. It's not surprising that everyone he meets falls in love with him! He has adjusted well to us and our home and seems very happy here. We just love him to death!  He's
our baby and we spend most of our time spoiling him!

Shelby is enjoying being very spoiled by Mom Carolina and Dad Eric. She has enjoyed going to the dog park and has turned into a beauty after her hair grew out from her "shave" cut. Just look at all of those curls! Shelby likes being the "boss", but she has a very sweet disposition, too. She has found her perfect forever home and is very happy and healthy, as everyone can see!
